Plate Thickness
Plates are typically thin, ranging from 0.5 to 1.2 mm in thickness. This thinness allows for efficient heat transfer and a large heat transfer surface area within a compact space.
Plate Design
The plates are often corrugated, which increases the surface area for heat transfer and creates turbulence in the fluid flow, further enhancing heat transfer and preventing fouling (the buildup of deposits on the plates).
Gaskets

Wide gap corrugated heat exchanger plate
Wide gap corrugated plates have a wide gap with a corrugated shape. They are suitable for applications with relatively high heat loads and low fouling rates.
Standard gap corrugated heat exchanger plates
Standard gap corrugated heat exchanger plates possess the same features as the wide gap corrugated plates.
Narrow gap corrugated heat exchanger plates
Narrow gap corrugated heat exchanger plates have close gaps. They enhance heat transfer efficiency through the turbulent flow. In addition, they reduce the total footprint.
